About us

The Underground Chamber Collective began as an initiative of Shannon Farley, Juliana Mesa, and Jose Garcia-Taborda to play a repertoire that included both string and woodwind instruments. Although the ensemble's name did not come to be until May of 2019, the idea of this group began with the performance of Beethoven's Septet in the Fall of 2018. The name itself was a mix of words that signify that the ensemble is flexible in its instrumentation (Collective), intends to play mostly chamber music, and was born in the basement apartment of our bassoonist -hence the word “Underground.” The Underground Chamber Collective has performed in different venues around Madison, WI, including First Unitarian Society, UW Madison, Oakwood Village University Woods, and Capitol Lakes.
